RandomReview: Fallout 4's Wasteland Workshop DLC - Quick Review

Fallout 4 Wasteland Workshop DLC: Quick Review

Fallout 4’s most recent DLC just released last night. How is it? Well, let’s find out. I’ll go over it very briefly for you. Since the DLC is very small, we can’t go into too much detail now, but I’ll touch on most of what it has to offer. It’s 3 AM right now, but I’ll do my best! Don’t worry - sleep is for the… Fallout. I’m not an addict.
Why is that hairstyle not in the game, by the way, Bethesda? There's one like it, but that one's more curly. I want curly hair...
First off, the Wasteland Workshop DLC is purely driven towards settlement building. If you don’t like building settlements in Fallout 4, then you’re already out. You probably won’t like it. Unless some of the features described below interest you, though.
The DLC is five bucks, I must say. Just $5. It’s very cheap. I believe it’s totally worth the asking price. This isn’t a rip-off by any means, surely. If you’re looking to jump into Fallout 4 now, but don’t want to buy the season pass, or Automatron for that matter, Wasteland Workshop might be a nice little DLC for you to pick up to add to your game. Although, I do recommend Automatron for new Fallout 4 players - the difficulty is severely ramped up in some missions due to the roaming death bots in the Wasteland.
Here are the main parts of Wasteland Workshop:
Way more items for settlement building. You can now build with concrete instead of wood or steel, if you’d like. There’s plenty of new lights available, including lettered neon lights - which allows you to write what you’d like on things.
Harness Wasteland creatures and enemies. You can build cages that capture Deathclaws, Mirelurks, or even Raiders.
Arena combat. You’re given two arena platforms - one red and one blue. This allows you to craft battles between settlers or captured enemies.
You can’t kill Marcy Long with this DLC, so that’s already one thing I dislike about it. Companions and some special settlers like Marcy or Sturges are marked as essential, so they can’t be killed in the arena combat.
Make sure you make the arena enclosed first, though. I forgot they could use Power Armor. I tried getting X6-88 to fight Marcy, but Marcy went and used my X-01 Power Armor. X6 got wrecked.
Assigning settlers to arenas causes them to go hostile immediately to their opposing arena team. You may want to keep them separated until you get the arena set up.
Besides the minor downsides, I feel like the DLC is totally worth shelling out five bucks. It’s totally work the asking price. You can capture cats! Don’t you want cats walking around your settlement? Or maybe a Deathclaw guarding The Castle for you?
Some people may not like that kind of thing, though, which is understandable. Why not you check out the video below? If you like the items the DLC has to offer, then go ahead and buy it. Courtesy of FluffyNinjaLlama.

If not, Fallout 4 still has something to offer for you. On the way are Console Mods, the Creation Kit, Far Harbor as DLC, and the revamped Survival mode. Plenty is coming for all of you Wastelanders.
Overall, I’d say screw it! Grab it, since it’s cheap! Can’t hurt to have some more content to improve your experience.
